Northeast Ohio school board races and school board meetings are growing in intensity. Many are especially contentious with issues around COVID-19 protocols, transparent curriculum development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives driving heated disputes and personal attacks. While some school board candidates are campaigning on these issues, the disputes are impacting district operations, student learning, and personal safety.
Join our education panel to learn about the roles of local school boards, the duties and responsibilities of school board members, and the effect these contentious issues are having on Northeast Ohio school board races, board operations, and community relations.
Jenny Hamel, education reporter for Ideastream Public Media, will moderate a round table discussion with area school board presidents and members contending with these issues.
